If you’ve recently gotten a new Apple Watch, or had yours replaced or unpaired for another reason you’ll likely want to restore it from a backup. Follow along for how to do so with an iCloud Backup.

If you use iCloud Backup with the iPhone that your Apple Watch was paired to, it will have automatically created a Watch backup when you last unpaired your Watch. If you happened to use iTunes it will also auto-backup, however it will only include all data if iTunes Backups are encrypted.

If you haven’t already unpaired your Apple Watch, you can read here for more help (even if you’ve lost your iPhone or forgotten your Watch passcode). You can also pair multiple Watches with one iPhone if you’d like to.

How to restore Apple Watch from iCloud Backup

  • Tap on the Watch app
  • Tap Start Pairing if no Watches are paired, Tap your current Watch at the top and then Pair a new Apple Watch if you’d like to pair a second
  • Once the Watch has paired, tap Restore from Backup
  • Choose the backup you’d like to restore

The whole process can take a little while to complete, make sure to keep your iPhone and Apple Watch close together. Be sure to check out our how to guide for more ways to get the most out of your Apple devices.
